Compass Oncology, the Pacific Northwest’s largest private Cancer Care Clinic group, is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurses (RN) to support our Infusion Oncology care team at our new East Cancer Center clinic. Oncology experience is a plus, and previous Infusion Oncology experience highly preferred. This individual must also possess strong multi-tasking abilities, and bring positivity and passion to their work. Employment Type: Full-time (0.8 FTE; 32 hours per week, 8-hour shifts)

Location: West Cancer Clinic (12123 SW 69th Avenue Tigard, OR).

Salary: $42.00 - $66.73 Per Hour

JOB SCOPE:        
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for oncology patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assists physician with exams and procedures.
  • Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions and initiates appropriate action.
  • Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
  • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
  • Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
  • Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
  • Assures nursing charges are accurate and complete on patient fee slips.
  • Acts as a resource person to the medical assistants.
  • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patients chart.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
  • Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary.
  • Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart.
  • Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
  • Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time and maintaining dependable attendance to support team operations and organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card, preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Current CPR certification required.

**Must maintain continuing education requirements.   

 

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum (1-3 years) of nursing experience including at least (1) year in oncology preferred.

Clinical Nurse-Midwife

Department Overview SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, clinical nurse specialist or nurse anesthetist) may function in all missions of the School. Scholarly teaching is an expectation for all. Clinical teaching of other OHSU advanced practice students may be required. The faculty member must be nationally certified by the AMCB, nationally certified by the appropriate certifying body for certification outside of nurse-midwifery and licensed by the state of Oregon. The faculty member will provide services as determined by the Midwifery Clinical Director or School of Nursing Senior Associate Dean for Practice in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Faculty members with a clinical FTE are also expected to participate in service appropriate to rank and FTE. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. Practice is the core part of this FTE assignment. The faculty member must be credentialed and privileged as a member of the Hillsboro Medical Staff and may also be required to be credentialed by the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty bylaws. The faculty member will provide clinical services at Hillsboro Medical Center, an OHSU Partner community hospital, as determined by the Clinical Director of Nurse-Midwifery in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Function/Duties of Position Clinical Activities: Clinical activities include session-based clinics and inpatient coverage on labor and delivery (including nights and holidays). Specific duties include: Provide supplementary coverage of labor and delivery call when the permanent faculty are ill, in retreat, traveling professionally, on vacation or on leave. The primary expectation is the provision of clinical midwifery services to patients in the faculty practice during both day and night shifts. Education Activities: Clinical education and supervision of graduate nurse-midwifery students and other OHSU learners in the provision of the services to patients in faculty practices. Midwifery students are with on call with clinical faculty approximately 90% of the time. Service Activities: For faculty with FTE, these activities may include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director. Other Activities: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Required Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral Degree in nursing required, Doctoral Degree preferred. AMCB certification as a nurse-midwife required. Oregon RN license, nurse-midwifery license and current CPR card and NRP certification required. Practice in full scope-midwifery for at minimum two years, three years is preferred. Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description. Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.
