Nurse Intern- Medical/Surgical Overflow 4 East

Shift: Variable Shifts; 7a-3:30p, 3p-11:30p, 11p-7:30a

Summary

Assists with and provides infant through adult patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager or assigned RN-Clinical Nurse. Performs only those skills listed in the Record of Activity of Orientation (RAO). Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications

Required: Enrolled in an accredited nursing program (or a program seeking accreditation), completed fundamentals of nursing, and is currently registered in clinical. Continuous enrollment in a nursing program or a graduate of a nursing program and board eligible. BLS Certification from the AHA for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire. Eligibility to continue in the position lasts for a maximum of 6 months after graduation from nursing school. Ability to interact effectively with various cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: None Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
