Overview

We are seeking an Intensive Care RN, also referred to as an ICU RN or Intensive Care Unit RN. The Intensive Care RN (ICU RN) will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decisions, and will be compassionate to all patients. An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administer IV Fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly.  

 

Bonus Options: up to $20,000 (Paid out as stipends every 90 days)

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am / 7:00am-7:00pm

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions 
  • Use advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters 
  • Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions 
  • Manage life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors 
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided  
  • Document all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.4. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.5. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.6. Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.7. Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. LI-DK1

In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. NIGHT SHIFT; 3 12-hr shifts; high volume with exposure to wide range of medical emergencies in level 2 trauma center; tight-knit team; engaging & supportive leadership What qualifications you will need: Graduate of accredited nursing school, ADN or BSN required. Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation, American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required. Current AHA ACLS to be obtain within 90 days of hire; NIH Stroke training to be completed successfully within 90 days of hire; TNCC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire.
