Join us as our Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Coordinator where you will assess the educational needs of the staff and plans, develops, and implements training programs to meet those needs, and provide residents and personnel with established guidelines to follow in prevention and spread of contagious, infectious or communicable disease.
Responsibilities:
Establishes guidelines for prevention and spread of contagious, infectious or communicable diseases
Assures that all infection control policies and procedures are implemented and followed
Coordinates regular in-services on infection control practice
Plans, develops and directs orientation program for all employees; supervises and monitors employees throughout individualized orientation period
Develops in-service programs in response to staff needs and teaches staff current accepted resident care and facility practices
Job Skills:
Thorough knowledge in of nursing theory, techniques and practices
Knowledge and understanding of principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases
Good verbal and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate organizational and educational skills
Must be able to analyze, organize, and adapt training and educational materials
Requirements:
Completed specialized training and/or certification in infection prevention and control (i.e. LTC-CIP, CIC, etc.)
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN license by the State Board of Nursing
Minimum of 3 years full-time or equivalent clinical nursing experience and a minimum of 2 years of clinical long-term care experience with 1 year in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity preferred
Annual attendance of an Infection Control Seminar and comprehension of the Facility Infection Control Manual are also required
