Job Description

The RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.  The RN is responsible for directing, coordinating all nursing care based on established clinical nursing practices.

The RN is responsible for overseeing the health and medical care of patients at MUSC Health – Marion Medical Center. The primary emphasis of the position is to ensure each patient’s medical, nutritional, and emotional needs are met.  The nurse will utilize his/her knowledge of growth and development, cultural, religious and ethnic differences in providing appropriate care to the patient as well as in creating an ongoing plan of care for the patient. 

The RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes for the scheduled shift and smooth transition to the next shift.  The RN is expected to be able to perform duties of unit secretary and nurse aides as defined in respective job descriptions and participates in performance improvement activities.

Education:

Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing.

Experience

Previous hospital RN preferred; RN experienced

Licenses/Certificates:

Current Registered Nurse license issued by the LLR Board of Nursing for South Carolina or Compact Licensure Agreement.

Current certification in BLS and to be maintained biannually.

Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree, and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. 

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
2. Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
3. Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.

Additional Job Description Required Minimum Training and Education: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Nursing License Compact. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current South Carolina RN License or multi-state Nursing License Compact and BLS required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.
