Our Labor and Delivery team specifically helps the birthing person every step of the labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum process. The Birthplace has electronic fetal monitoring equipment with central display for easy, constant observation. An operating suite for Cesarean sections is just a few steps away. Our patients receive care from a compassionate and highly skilled nursing and interdisciplinary team in a fast paced environment. Perform newborn physical assessments. Provide nursing care for pregnancy induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, gestational diabetes, multiple gestation, postpartum hemorrhage, uterine rupture, amniotic emboli, high/low birth weights, and infants requiring protective isolation. Teach patients and family members about disease processes, normal newborn and postpartum care, pre and post-operative cares, pre and post diagnostic procedures; expected and possible adverse reactions to medications and health promotion. Set up, operate and maintain a variety of medical equipment in the labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum unit to included fetal-monitors, respiratory and oxygen therapy equipment, intravenous infusion pumps, suctions, infant warmers, delivery tables. Administer oxygen, IV fluids, perform lab draws, blood products, and prescribed medications.
