The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

·         Work closely with other Nurses and Nursing Assistants to divide care tasks for patients.

·         Provides direct patient care in an organized and timely manner.  Demonstrates necessary skills in providing age appropriate care and documents per unit policy.

·         Initiates and assists with emergency measures, identifies life-threatening arrhythmias and demonstrates knowledge of ACLS guidelines.

·         Thorough understanding of all equipment on acute care units, including but not limited to; beds, scales, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, SCDs, respiratory equipment, etc.

·         Initiates and maintains a sterile field and assist the physician as necessary with suturing, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, etc.

·         Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age specific criteria, patient clinical condition and safety policy.

·         Performs daily/nightly narcotic medication reconciliation checks with another licensed nurse to verify correct administration/documentation of scheduled drugs.

·         Performs AccuChek testing per policy, ensures that controls are dated with opened and expiration date; responds and documents any actions taken in response to results.

·         Maintains and updates patient charts per unit policy.  Checks each chart for completeness prior to releasing record to health information.

·         Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance

·         Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

·         Provides a safe environment for patients and family members.  Reduce the risk of patient falls by keeping patient rooms and areas free of excess clutter.

·         Complies with infection control standards.

·         Ensuring all confidentiality and privacy rights of residents are observe.

·         Supports and promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values; adheres to all hospital policies and procedures; commits to the Standards of Conduct; maintains professional appearance.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

·         Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and in good standing with the Board of Nursing
