What does the Oncology Clinic Nurse Manager (RN) position do?
The Oncology Clinic Nurse Manager (RN) will work in conjunction with, and by the direction of, the Director of Nursing Services and also with the Regional Executive Director, if applicable, to provide nursing support for operations to existing practice locations and newly acquired practices by consulting and advising clinicians on best-practices, implementing of/providing education and training programs, and collaborating on interdisciplinary projects. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Ensure clinical operations and practice consistent with organizational objectives
Collaborates with practice management to provide support on operational projects such as site Quality Committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative site assessments, Advancing Care Information, the Oncology Care Model (OCM), and other special projects as assigned.
Facilitates the implementation and/or utilization of outcomes data and evidence-based practices
Facilitates implementation of standardized best practices within the organization.
Ensures practice standards of care are consistent with community standards of care.
Ensures the incorporation of clinical evidence into existing and newly developed standards.
Staff DevelopmentAssess staffing levels and issues, patient flow, current practices in the clinical setting.
Assists with the development of company-wide clinical competency testing and skills validation programs.
Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws and schedules and coordinates employee staffing including vacations, sick leave and overtime.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
Current BLS certification required.
Minimum of five (5) years actively practicing as a registered nurse, including at least three years oncology experience.
Minimum of three (3)years of leadership experience
Oncology certification preferred

In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care. Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service. Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary. Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives. Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization. Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines. Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment. What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (RN) Registered Nurse with an active license in the state of Texas or multistate license including Texas Bachelors Degree preferred, Associate Degree minimum requirement 2+ years working on a Neuro Ortho dedicate unit within an acute hospital setting required.
