Qualifications of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Educator:

  • Must have New York RN license
  • Must have prior Assistant Director of Nursing experience in long term care
  • Must have long term care experience
  • Must have nurse education/in-service experience
  • Proven ability to create and deliver engaging education, with strong coaching and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; adept at building rapport across all levels

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Educator:

  • Provides educational leadership to patients and care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established healthcare setting.
  • Assists patients and caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care.
  • Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.
  • Performs resident assessments for appropriateness of resident’s care with regard to infection control and adherence to isolation policies and procedures.
  • Performs clinical rounds for surveillance to verify the status of residents, treatment, and necessary follow-up for care needs and staff development.
  • Lead, direct and monitor the delivery of health care and related health and medical services.
  • Provide direct supervision to nurses.
  • Plan, develop and implement procedures and policies that enhance the quality of life for people receiving services.
  • Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and nursing practice standards.
  • Develop and implement nursing department budgets in coordination with our management team.
  • Provide effective nurse management that assures utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of the people receiving support and services.
  • Develop and implement health care related training that assures the best possible delivery of health related support and services.
  • Ensure that patient care plans contain accurate documentation and are amended as needed.

This is a mixed gender unit with serving adolescents and adults. The unit features the expertise of faculty members of the two world-renowned academic medical centers and teaching institutions. Patients benefit from the most recent clinical research findings and advances in the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia nervosa. The goal is to help patients achieve and maintain healthy eating habits and a healthy weight. This is a 40 hrs. full time (3x12-hours and additional 8 hours bi-weekly (11am - 11:30 pm) evenings position, including weekend (Sat + Sun) coverage at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Behavioral Health.
