The Personal Care Aide position requires the following:

o Ability to communicate in a dignified, respectful manner.

o Relates well to residents, visitors and other staff members

o Emotional and physical stamina to be of service to the residents in their daily living skills

o Interest and participation in opportunities for personal academic growth

o Ability to practice self-control in speech, listening, body and facial mannerisms

o Assist residents with activities of daily living.

o Assist residents with medication.

o Assist residents with grooming, showering, and other aspects of personal care.

o Update medication administration record as needed

o Ensure that resident receives all necessary documents prior to doctor appointments.

o Consult and correspond with doctor offices for any necessary clarifications

o Contact pharmacy for residents' prescription refills as needed and ensure escript copies are received.

o Record all pertinent information regarding residents in the twenty-four hour log book.

Specific Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Prefer prior experience with medication assistance.
Prefer previous experience, either professional, personal or volunteer, with the elderly population.

Compensation:

$15/Hours + PTO

Medication Assistance: Count Control Substance with outgoing PCA (sign your initials if count is correct). Any missing Controlled substances should be reported to Administration. Prepare medication, bring medication to dining room during meal time, and assist residents with medication. If a resident requires medication prior to breakfast, the charge PCA shall go to the resident's room and assist the resident with medication. If a resident requires afternoon or after dinner medication, the PCA shall assist the resident with medication from the med room. The procedure of assistance for injectable medication is as follows: A resident requiring assistance shall come to the med room. The PCA shall assist the resident by handing over the injectable medication to the resident. The resident shall self-administer medication in the presence of the PCA. The resident shall safely dispose of the remains of the injectable medication into the sharps container. The PCA shall never come into contact or dispose of injectable medication after it has been handed to the resident. PCA must always watch residents ingest medication and properly document. PCA shall update medication administration record as needed, after Physician visits & ensure MAR & Dr. orders match PCA shall ensure that resident receives all necessary documents prior to doctor appointments. Immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately document the activity and notification. North and South 8 have telemetry capabilities for our patients. Kelemen 8 has frequent admissions and discharges. Kelemen 8 can accept a total of 77 patients. The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family. Education Requirements High School / GED License/Certification Requirements Successful completion of an unlicensed health care provider/ technician program Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited Nursing Program 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role. At least one of the above qualifications/certifications must be met for hire.
