As a Registered Nurse (RN) on our 24-bed medical-surgical floor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients admitted to the medical-surgical unit.
    • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and provide wound care.
    • Educate patients and their families on post-operative recovery, pain management, and self-care.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work seamlessly with other nurses, nurse assistants, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, surgeons, and surgical residents regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  • Resource Utilization:
    • Leverage available resources, including nurse assistants, to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage a high patient turnover.
  • Nurse Residency Program:
    • Participate in a one-year nurse residency program designed to enhance your skills and transition you to the acute care setting.
    • Engage in ongoing learning, mentorship, and professional development.
    • Receive a comprehensive 12-week orientation to familiarize yourself with our hospital’s protocols, systems, and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Education and Licensure:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
    • Current RN licensure in Louisiana or compact licensure.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred but not required.
    • New graduates from nursing programs are welcome to apply.
