Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) on our 24-bed medical-surgical floor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. This dynamic position involves managing post-operative surgical patients, collaborating with a team of nursing personnel, and working closely with surgeons and surgical residents. Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients admitted to the medical-surgical unit.
    • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and provide wound care.
    • Educate patients and their families on post-operative recovery, pain management, and self-care.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work seamlessly with other nurses, nurse assistants, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, surgeons, and surgical residents regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  • Resource Utilization:
    • Leverage available resources, including nurse assistants, to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage a high patient turnover.
  • Nurse Residency Program:
    • Participate in a one-year nurse residency program designed to enhance your skills and transition you to the acute care setting.
    • Engage in ongoing learning, mentorship, and professional development.
    • Receive a comprehensive 12-week orientation to familiarize yourself with our hospital’s protocols, systems, and workflows.
  • Professionalism and Compassion:
    • Demonstrate kindness, empathy, and compassion toward patients and their families.
    • Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
Qualifications

  • Education and Licensure:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
    • Current RN licensure in Louisiana or compact licensure.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred but not required.
    • New graduates from nursing programs are welcome to apply.

This unit is located on the 2nd floor of the Willis Knighton Bossier Health System. The patient population consists of adult medical/surgical patients with a large population of Orthopedic patients. With our unit offering remote cardiac monitoring capability the candidate with ACLS and PALS will be our first choice.
