The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Radiology is seeking a full time (100%) assistant nurse manager for nursing services within Radiology. The assistant nurse manager will provide managerial and clinical leadership to assure all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods and resources to accomplish their performance objectives. The assistant nurse manager will participate in direct patient care and focus on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving nursing operations in Radiology.

Duties Include
Human Resources Management
- Hire, develop and manage the performance of staff in a nursing unit.
- Responsible for talent management of staff and identify succession plan strategies.
- Knowledgeable of and implement human resources policies/procedures and provisions in the collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepare budget or assist in development; provide projections and recommendations.
- Monitor and maintain unit/clinic operating budget within specified targets.
- Analyze variances and create action plans to take corrective action.
- Provide leadership to establish and/or maintain efficient and effective systems to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Identify trends and determine quality initiatives and priorities.
- Allocate resources to meet quality and productivity expectations.
- Review patient satisfaction data and develop, implement and evaluate plan(s) to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Ensure unit/clinic is survey ready.
- Assess care coordination within multidisciplinary team to maximize patient satisfaction and continuity of care.
- Identify needs, trends, and forecasts in order to provide quality patient care and ensure appropriate flex staffing.
- Participate in direct patient care as needed.
- Advocate for needs of unit/clinic with healthcare leaders.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary participation in clinical problem solving.
- Utilize unit councils to identify opportunities for improvement and innovative models of care using a multidisciplinary team to impact patient outcomes.
- Educate and mentor staff in the management of complex patient care issues.
- Provide clinical education and coaching to develop staff competency and professionalism. Participate in and support education of health care students.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- 3 years current experience in Critical Care or Emergency Treatment Care is required.
- Demonstrated skill in leadership/management and experience in clinical practice required.
- Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, problem solving, attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Demonstrated job related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with EKG interpretation and IV placement is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
- BLS certification is required.
- Experience in procedural sedation is desired.
