Lying just inland between the State's coastal mountain ranges and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Adventist Health Reedley has been serving the Central Valley since 2011. We are comprised of a 49-bed acute care hospital and 60 clinics in 27 rural communities with primary and specialty care services. Reedley is a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts as it is located in the central San Joaquin Valley portion of California, close to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Job Summary
Performs maternal and newborn breastfeeding assessments on daily rounds. Provides inpatient/outpatient consultations as needed. Responsible for the overall coordination, planning and management of patient, family and staff education related to breastfeeding. Educates mothers and families to initiate and maintain lactation, overcome obstacles, prevent premature weaning and enhance maternal role satisfaction.

Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Preferred
- Lactation Education or Lactation Consultant certification: Preferred
- International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification: Preferred
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification: Preferred
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification: Preferred
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP): Required
- Performs maternal and newborn breastfeeding assessments on daily rounds, preceded by chart review and care provider report. Provides outpatient/inpatient consultations as needed, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to females of predominantly child-bearing age and newborns. Evaluate potential or existing challenges and factors that may impact on a mother to meet her breastfeeding goals. Assist and support the mother to develop, implement and evaluate an appropriate and acceptable and achievable breastfeeding plan utilizing all resources available.
- Actively participates in patient’s discharge planning needs. Determines need for post-discharge telephone consultation, weight checks or outpatient consults. Coordinates consultations with physician and patient.
- Maintains complete, accurate, concise, legible documentation of patient lactation status, interventions and responses.
- Collaborates with the department manager, quality management, and/or designee to establish ongoing monitoring of breast feeding, mother-infant care indicators, policy implementation and improve quality of perinatal care as needed. Collects, monitors, records, and reports data as needed. Meets with appropriate person and/or committee as needed to review monitored data for quality assurance.”
