Introduction GRADE 24 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, Jessup, MD Main Purpose of Job This recruitment is for two positions. Both will function as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Court-Involved, at the managerial level of work, assisting the Director of Nursing, CTPHC, managing the day to day operations, and in developing and implementing goals, objectives, standards, policies and procedures for the nursing department at Clifton T Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC) where care is provided to mentally ill patients who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies, and to those who are difficult to manage in a less secure setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. ADON's at Clifton T Perkins Hospital Center are subject to call-in. The responsibility principally includes the day-to-day management of the nursing department but also includes regulatory compliance, standards of care compliance, scheduling compliance, management of personnel as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer. The positions supervise Registered Nurse Managers, CI and, through them indirectly supervises Registered Nurse Supervisors, CI and subordinate staff. Minimum Qualifications Education: A Master's degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting including two years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity. Notes Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university and six years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting including four years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity for the required education and experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education. Desired Or Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates should possess the following: Experience in managing day to day clinical/nursing operations in an acute hospital or in-patient behavioral hospital; Experience managing staffing office/scheduling; Expert knowledge of TJC, COMAR and CMS regulations of a behavioral health hospital; Experience in providing training and education to nursing employees; and, Flexibility in assisting the nursing department as situations arise.
