As the Admissions Coordinator at Tulsa Nursing Center in Tulsa, OK, you are responsible for the coordination of an effective, efficient admission process for all patients by receiving referrals, gathering, and verifying pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and completing necessary procedures to schedule and admit inpatients. Compiles and inputs statistical information into appropriate facility computer systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Processes referrals and coordinates admissions of all residents in an efficient, responsive manner.

  • Coordinates the flow of information through the admissions process and forwards to appropriate departments for the successful completion of admissions.

  • Collect and record all information necessary for admitting residents.

  • Completes insurance verification forms with benefit and billing information.

  • Contact resident’s insurance to confirm and determine amount of coverage and benefits, deductible due, length of stay and if pre-certification is required.

  • Communicates admission status and coordinates all aspects of admission.

  • Admits all resident-obtaining correct general information and ensures that all forms are signed.

  • Notifies referral sources of approval, denials and admission status and arranges transfer if needed.

  • Notifies the appropriate personnel of the arrival of all residents and arranges for an escort of all residents and families to their room.

  • Keeps records of all referrals, admissions and denials and the reason for denial.

  • Attends daily meeting and presents pending list of residents with estimated admission dates.

Job Requirements

  • RN or LPN license is state of practice

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred

  • At least (1) one year of experience with discharge planning or admissions in the health care industry

  • Needs to possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and identify/interact with various referrals and referral sources

  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff and all external contacts.
