Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of EMTALA regulations governing patient transfers in and out of the Emergency Department.
- Performs age-specific triage, safety assessments, and trauma response evaluations for diverse patient populations.
- Conducts comprehensive nursing assessments, including physiological, psychological, and ongoing systems evaluations.
- Interprets diagnostic data, including EKGs, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic responses, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Monitors, evaluates, and documents patient responses to vasoactive medications and advanced cardiac therapies, including pacemaker management.
- Manages and monitors patients requiring mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy.
- Identifies and responds to crisis situations, including behavioral health emergencies, verbal de-escalation, and suicide or abuse risk.
- Develops, implements, and prioritizes individualized plans of care based on patient needs and acuity.
- Safely initiates and documents nursing interventions in emergent and critical situations.
- Administers IV therapy, medications, enteral feedings, and other ordered treatments in accordance with hospital policy.
- Provides ongoing patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Ensures accurate documentation of patient care, valuables, supplies, and charges.
- Performs wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, glucose monitoring, and urinary catheterization using aseptic technique.
- Adheres to infection control standards, safety protocols, and proper use of restraints and unit-specific equipment.
- Coordinates safe and efficient patient transfers and discharges, ensuring complete documentation and handoff communication.
- Evaluates patient outcomes and progress toward goals, adjusting care plans to meet discharge criteria.
- Participates in professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and unit productivity through effective communication and delegation.
Minimum qualifications:
· Current/Valid Florida RN Licensure
· BLS and ACLS Certification required.
· PALS or ENPC required.
