Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
- Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and documentation, including reporting any adverse reactions or medication errors to the supervising nurse.
- Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition related to medication, notifying the healthcare team of any concerns or changes in their health status.
- Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for residents.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety to ensure the highest standard of care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
