Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse – Flight Medicine

Location: Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) – Lackland & Randolph

Position Overview

CentralCare Incorporated is seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to provide full-time Flight Medicine services at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA). This is an excellent opportunity to support our military community and their families as a federal civilian contractor.

Position Details

  • Pay: $25.00/hour + $4.41/hour additional for health and wellness
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Sick Leave
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0700–1600
  • Contract Length: 1 Year Preferred (Opportunity to Extend)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to diverse patient populations in a Flight Medicine setting.
  • Complete patient care based on condition, using sound judgment to select appropriate procedures and treatments.
  • Accurately recognize, report, and document relevant patient information.
  • Administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and perform treatments per established protocols.
  • Observe, identify, and respond to patient needs, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
  • Recognize urgent or emergent situations, seek assistance from RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate emergency interventions as directed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Certificate; Graduate from an accredited nursing program approved by the State Board.
  • License: Active, unrestricted LVN/PN license.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS required for Cardiology LVNs.
  • Experience: Flight Medicine experience within the last three years.

Complete all MDS charting, Skilled charting, changes in condition and/or new orders or treatments received for specific resident in their charts. Please document schedule or cancelled doctors’ appointments in residents’ chart. (inform transportation of changes) For OOP residents please fill out appropriate form, and head to toe assessment completed. Complete incident report if any occur during shift (write incident on 24 hour report, and submit paperwork to unit manager or slide under DON’s door). Complete lab inquiries and noted on lab log for any new orders or any labs received (log them in).
