Program Summary:

Under the direct supervision the incumbent is responsible for the delivery of care of the newborn and obstetrical patients through the deployment of the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The incumbent directs and guides patient teaching activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards for professional nursing. The position reports to the Director Perinatal/Quality

Minimum:

  • Labor and Delivery experience required.
  • 1 year recent hospital experience
  • AA degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications

 

Special Skills

Ability to function within the limits of State Nurse Practice Act. Conscious Sedation competency

Training

Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course by AWHONN or NCC certification within 6 months of hire (Preferred)

Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion. As a nurse in this department, you will have varying roles and responsibilities. You may work in Obstetrics - triaging patients or perform screening exams on walk-ins or you may guide patients through a routine induction and delivery. You’re busy monitoring the mother’s dilation progress while also keeping close watch on the baby’s fetal heart rate. You'll be coaching mom as the baby is delivered and providing updates and support to the patient’s partner and loved ones.
