Job Summary and Qualifications

Provides technical assistance to physician/registered nurse during surgical procedures. The surgical technologist functions in the role of Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant after meeting credentialing criteria and carries out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. The CSTFA practices under the supervision of the surgeon during the first assisting phase of the intraoperative role. The CSTFA does not function concurrently as a scrub during the CSTFA component of surgical patient care. The CSTFA also functions, when not first assisting, in the surgical technologist role.

Position Responsibilities for the surgical technologist: Works collaboratively with Registered Nurse to prepare patients for surgical procedures to include all specialties. The Surgical Technologist scrubs for the surgical procedures and performs a variety of other duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment. Maintains inventory of necessary equipment and supplies.

Job Summary and Qualifications Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs Individualizes preoperative planning and preparation for surgical intervention to meet the needs of each patient and his/her surgeon Prepares the surgical suite / clinical area, supplies and equipment to ensure safety for patients and personnel Assists with the surgical procedure Adheres to the Association of Surgical Technologist Code of Ethics Contributes to an environment that is conducive to clinical education of surgical technology students Participates in routine unit duties All other duties as assigned What qualifications you will need : Required Registration, Licensure or Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) Required Education or Experience, graduate of an approved school of surgical technology Preferred Education or Experience: Previous experience performing surgical technologist duties in an obstetrical setting For more than 100 years, Wesley Healthcare has provided exceptional care to thousands of families in Wichita and throughout Kansas and Northern Oklahoma.
