Position Summary: The Supervisor of Patient Care Services, in conjunction with the Manger Nursing Services, is responsible for designated unit-based clinical and educational assessment, development, evaluation, improvement and outcomes for residents, staff and physicians (when applicable). Performs work processes to support the Mission and Core Values and Beliefs to accomplish organizational goals and positive patient outcomes. Participates in designated organizational initiatives and projects. Works in a collaborative manner within a multidisciplinary team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and directs nursing staff including enforcement of hospital policies, providing educational Support, corrective action, completing performance appraisals, tracking variances and staff adjusting pursuant to budget
  • Demonstrates professional practice skills in the delivery of patient care
  • Demonstrates a leadership role reflective of the hospital nursing organizational goals through written and oral communications with residents, visitors, co-workers, physician and other health care members
  • Collaborates with Nursing teams, makes rounds to each nursing unit and provides guidance and direction
  • Applies knowledge and participates in the development/revision of policies and procedures for the provision of patient care, and utilizes resources appropriately
  • Provides educational awareness/support to staff regarding
  • Utilizes process improvement, risk reduction and identification/analysis of care delivery variances to sustain quality of care and continually improve the performance of work processes.
  • Assists in data collection process to facilitate unit staff performance appraisals.
  • Functions as a role model/mentor and a clinical resource.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Progressive leadership charge/supervisor experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
