RN OR Contract

Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Minor Surgical Procedures, internally referred to as our Surgical Nurse or Perioperative Nurse, in the Operating Room (OR) at Saint John Hospital (SJH), (Leavenworth, KS), a member of Prime Healthcare. As an OR RN for surgery procedures, you are directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. 

 

Shift’s Available:  Days

Employment Type: Per Diem (PRN); at least 3 shifts/every 6 weeks 

Hours: 8-hour shift: 6:00a - 2:30p/8:00a - 4:30p (flex with number of cases)

Location: Saint John Hospital - Leavenworth, KS

**If you have at least one year of experience in the Perioperative area of the operating room as a Circulator, OR Nurse, PACU Nurse or Surgical Nurse you are encouraged to apply! 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults
  • coordinate the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist
  • directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing
  • works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization
  • responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures
  • responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services
  • acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  
  • Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Minimum one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) (AORN)
