Main Purpose of Job

The Performance Improvement Registered Nurse is responsible for performing Nursing Audits in assigned Patient care areas. The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for analyzing the data and compiling a monthly report that will be presented to the Performance Improvement committee Meeting. This position will review and develop criteria for monitoring and evaluation activities and assist with the development of the plan of correction for TJC and the CMS. This position will review Audit Tools to assess the need for revision when needed. This position will assist in the development of Excel Spreadsheets for data analysis. The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for maintaining the Excel spreadsheet for the monthly Audit findings for assigned areas.

• Hospital performance improvement activities;
• Accreditation/regulatory readiness; and
• Other Departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience : None.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

The desired candidate should possess the following:

• Experience designing effective quality and safety monitoring processes.
• Experience drafting Plans of Correction.
• Experience with Joint Commission/CMS Survey processes.
• Experience in Culture of Safety requirements.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
• Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
• Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

Special Requirements

• Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
• Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
