Position Summary
- The Education Nurse Specialist (ENS) is a registered professional nurse who provides safe, expedient, and cost-effective Clinical Education services to ensure quality patient outcomes.
- As a member of a team of Educators, the ENS assesses educational needs, plans programs to meet those needs, implements those programs, and evaluates the effectiveness of offerings for employees, students, volunteers, and diverse community members across the lifespan.
- Educational offerings provided will promote clinical reasoning and critical thinking, and will utilize best practices and current evidence (for both education and practice), and will be revised based on participant feedback, outcomes evaluation, and changes in best practice.
- Thorough documentation for all educational offerings, including content, objectives, evaluations, and attendance will be maintained.
- The ENS functions as a leader, consultant, innovator, coordinator, and change agent in the pursuit of exemplary professional nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and evaluate professional development programs aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements including serving as a Nurse Planner for the ECU Health Approved Provider Unit.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to facilitate interprofessional education initiatives and programs that are aligned with organization goals and strategic plan.
- Evaluates data trends and outcomes to guide decision making about changes and improvements in nursing professional development.
- Leads nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence- based practice.
- Disseminates research and quality improvement findings through activities such as publication, presentations, and other scholarly work.
- Oversight of nursing (experienced and nurse residents), international team members, and allied health professionals transition to practice and mentorship support.
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree or higher in nursing or adult education required.
Current North Carolina RN license required.
Minimum five years of health care experience
Including at least two years of Professional Development and or adult education experience required.
Must obtain Nursing Professional Development Certification within 3 years of hire.
Basic Life Support required.
