Mother/Baby Department Highlights
- 36 bed Mother/Baby Unit
- Active Unit-Based Council
- Opportunities for personal growth through NCAP
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
- BSN preferred
- Other – CLIAFE must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
- One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred
- Outpatient Lactation experience preferred
- RN – Registered Nuse upon hire reqjuired
- IBCLC certification required within 2 years
- IBCLC upon hire preferred
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 90 days and maintained annually
- NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.
- Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.
- Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.
- Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.
- Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
- Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
