The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia CNA license issued by the board of nursing (if you are a recent graduate of a CNA program in VA and not licensed, the NNAAP exam must be scheduled at the time of application). Knowledge of patient care, personal care techniques, and infection control measures. Demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs; to transfer and transport patients in a safe manner using proper body mechanics; to recognize signs and symptoms indicating distress; and to perform CPR. Ability to intervene in crisis or problem situations. Ability to work in a secure/locked environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, take initiative, organize duties, and manage time.
