Job Duties

This position will provide ongoing education and training as a mentor, leader, and quality improvement driver to all DBHDS nursing staff based on mandates, best practices, performance issues, quality management/ performance improvement focus areas, and ongoing professional growth of staff.

The Regional Clinical Nurse Educator will enhance the quality of nursing care across DBHDS by ensuring nursing staff are highly competent in the delivery of medical complex and behavioral health patient care.

This position will work out of Central Office in Richmond, VA.

-Ability to develop and implement training programs for DBHDS nursing staff to ensure high quality, standardized medical and behavioral health care.

-Ability to participate as a member of the DBHDS nursing leadership teams to identify educational needs and training opportunities.

-Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational offerings based on needs of nursing staff and nursing QM findings.

-Ability to effectively communicate and teach to varying levels of staff using various educational mediums (online, live presentations, polycom, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the nursing process along with experience in the education/teaching of nursing employees. Computer skills commensurate with the position. Current state of Virginia Registered Nurse license.

Registered Nurses (RN’s) provide age-specific quality nursing care to all patients through the nursing process and standards of nursing practice. Demonstrated ability to work independently, to evaluate program and staff performance, to develop standards of care and operational procedures, to perform patient assessment, to troubleshoot problems and to establish priorities.
