**Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA): $25,000 Sign-On Bonus**

Primary Purpose

Administers anesthesia and anesthesia-related care from pre-anesthetic patient assessment and evaluation through post-anesthetic patient follow-up, evaluation, and care, formulating and carrying out anesthetic patient care plans in collaboration with attending anesthesiologists to facilitate quality patient care, comfort, and satisfaction during diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.

 

Minimum Specifications:

Education

- Must be a graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Program accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia (COA) or its predecessor.

 

Experience Equivalent

Education and/or Experience Certification/Registration/Licensure

- Must have a current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license.

- Must have a current license or temporary authorization (interim approval not to exceed 120 days from date of issuance) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with authorization to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the Texas Board of Nursing.

 

- Must have current healthcare provider CPR certification from

  • American Heart Association,
  • American Red Cross
  • Military Training Network.

 

- Must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Systems (ACLS) certification.

- Must have valid national certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

- Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.

Provide continuous vigilant observation of patients by monitoring the patient’s physical reaction to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents and informs the relevant clinical team of any adverse condition that potentially threatens the safety or care of the patient. In addition to the above summary the Lead CRNA will be responsible for running the daily board for CRNAs in conjunction with manager and/or anesthesiologist. The Lead CRNA will assume a supervisory role for a subset of employees, as delegated by the leaders In collaboration with the CRNA leadership team, they will be responsible for fostering CRNA development through goal setting, team building, continuing education, and performance management. Manages the anesthesia process to include induction, maintenance, and emergence of general, regional, and monitored anesthesia cases. Recognizes abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or form of therapy. Initiate corrective measures. Determines the need for additional laboratory tests and provide resuscitative care as necessary. Evaluate and manage the patient in the immediate post-operative period. 6. Administers IV fluids relative to the patient’s medical history and surgical procedure. Administer blood products after obtaining a hematocrit. 7. Appropriately documents the patient status in the anesthesia record. 8. Performs all required safety and performance checks on anesthesia-related equipment and verify the appropriate supplies before initiating care. Procure and assemble equipment and supplies as indicated if anesthesia tech is not available. 9. In accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards, reviews appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site during SBAR with circulating RN and holding room RN. Communicates appropriately with all individuals involved in the peri-operative and post-operative care of the patient. 11. Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly-hired CRNAs, SRNAs, and medical students in the clinical area, as applicable. 12. Coordinates breaks, lunches, relief order and assignment of cases. Assesses the immediate staffing needs based on consultation with the clinical team. 14. In conjunction with the Chief and Assistant Chief CRNA, Assures the adherence of all standards and policies as set forth by WVUH and the accrediting bodies for the purposes of licensure, regulation and accreditation. 19. Assists leaders in timely follow-up investigations incident reports. Ultimately, if corrective action of an employee is required, the Chief CRNA will be responsible. 20. In conjunction with CRNA leadership, facilitates the professional development of personnel.
