Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)  

Location: Hazard, KY  

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm 


As a BCN Hospice Team member, you will be a part of a team providing care and support to patients and their families who no longer receive treatments to cure their terminal illness, but instead choose care to improve their comfort and quality of life. Our service allows our team members to focus on one patient at a time providing care where the patient calls home. While this often is a house or apartment, we also provide care at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals. If a patient’s care needs are too complicated for home care or require a higher level of attention from nurses and other experts, we can provide care at one of our Hospice Care Centers.

About the role: 

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a para-professional member of the hospice team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs, to promote the patient's comfort, and a safe environment. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for observing patients and reporting/documenting these observations and the services provided.

Requirements

  • Is at least eighteen years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Is currently a State Registered Nurse Aide through the State Board of Nursing.
  • One year experience in hospital or nursing home setting, preferred.
  • Proof of completion of recognized CNA training program.
  • Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document given care.
  • Satisfactory references from previous employers.
  • Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Has empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired. Understands philosophy of hospice care and needs of the terminally ill.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Team members will be expected to comply with Bluegrass Care Navigators Employee Health, infectious disease, and vaccination policies.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order, that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements, with personal auto liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 in bodily injury coverage.

Prepares patients for surgery, x-ray and other therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
