General Summary:

Assists with the management of clinical, human and other resources within the periop areas. Functions as a role model. Provides clinical expertise in evaluating SPU patient assessment, care, discharge and transfer. Provides guidance related to standards of care/practice, policies and procedures, and practice guidelines. Reinforces regulatory standards with staff, physicians and health care providers. Provides direct patient care as needed. Supports/reinforces developed goals and objectives to sustain the department in the changing health care environment. Maintains competence in clinical nursing practice and obtains relevant education.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Ability to read and communicate in the English language.

  • Successful completion from an accredited school of nursing.

  • NJ RN license required.

  • BSN required.

  • Five years clinical experience in Short Procedure Unit and/or PACU Nursing.

  • Prior management experience preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of performance improvement and regulations specific to the emergency room including EMTALA.

  • Possesses education skills, knowledge of and ability to use computers, solid human relations skills.

  • BLS & ACLS certifications required.

Salary Range

$95,206.64 to $135,670.42

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who assumes administrative responsibility for the management of all department service functions on his/her shift. Makes frequent rounds throughout facility to monitor the delivery of care, oversee the quality of services and direct patient care activities as needed. Directly supervises, provides support to and communicates with all staff house-wide. In the absence of the Hospital Administrative staff, the administrative scope and responsibility is extended to all services within the hospital. Ensures efficient operations and patient flow throughout the hospital. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice and competence. Ensures all temporary agency personnel are deployed and oriented in compliance with hospital policy. Assist medical staff with scheduling after hour procedures and calling in stand-by call staff members.
