Summary

Under the general supervision of department management and the indirect supervision of a Surgical Technologist, assists with the perioperative care in a technical support staff function. The Surgical Technologist Trainee position offers the opportunity to practice clinical skills and gain competencies prior to sitting for the external certification exam.

Qualifications Required: Completion of accredited surgical technologist training program OR three (3) year of surgical technician experience, including successful completion of introductory requirements and competencies. Surgical Technician certification is required and maintained, if eligible to certify. If on the job trained must have worked continuously as a scrub tech since prior to 1/1/2018. If certification has lapsed, applicant has 180 days to recertify. If hired after 01/01/2018 and not certified, must successfully complete not less than 15 hours annually continuing education for surgical technologist.
