Responsibilities
Responsibilities for Med/Surg RNs Include, But Not Limited To:
- Delivers expert care for high-acuity patients, performing complex assessments and rapid clinical interventions.
- Anticipates and responds to changing conditions using data-driven, evidence-based judgment.
- Operates and interprets advanced monitoring equipment, including ICP, CVP, PA pressures, cardiac monitors, and ventilators.
- Recognizes critical changes and initiates emergency actions or notifies physicians promptly.
- Develops, updates, and evaluates individualized care plans.
- Advocates for patients and families while providing culturally sensitive, age-appropriate care.
- Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinical resource as needed.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support effective unit function.
- Coordinates and delegates patient care appropriately.
- Documents assessments, treatments, medications, and education accurately and per regulatory standards.
- Demonstrates competency in all required nursing skills and equipment.
- Prioritizes care, resolves problems, and communicates essential patient information clearly.
- Supports onboarding of new staff and students.
- Maintains compliance with attendance and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health/Orlando Health and unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.
- NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
Experience
- 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above.
