Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI Health Good Samaritan is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator & Perinatal Safety Specialist to support nursing professional development while leading key perinatal safety initiatives. In this dual role, you will provide education, mentorship, and clinical expertise while promoting a culture of safety and high-quality care for mothers, babies, and staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing education, onboarding, and competency programs.

  • Mentor nursing staff and support evidence-based practice and clinical excellence.

  • Lead perinatal safety initiatives and ensure adherence to national and system standards.

  • Provide ongoing perinatal training, updates, and safety communication.

  • Conduct safety rounds, support quality improvement, and analyze safety events.

  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to drive consistent, high-quality patient outcomes.


Job Requirements
  • Bachelors Of Nursing BSN upon hire or Masters Of Nursing MSN upon hire OR completion of MSN program within 5 years of start date
  • Registered Nurse License in NE
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 90 Days
  • Minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women’s Services
  • Minimum of 2 years of project experience in Women and Infants Perinatal Safety
  • Nursing education experience demonstrating progressive experience in the development and implementation of clinical education programs
Where You'll Work

The Maternity Center at CHI Health Good Samaritan has 19 L&D private patient rooms. We are a Level II NICU and we provide care for patients from antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum, including mother-baby care in our Maternity Center.

 

CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. You’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Job Summary and Responsibilities Works directly with newborn nursery, special care nursery, and Labor and Delivery staff, and birth center staff as a consultant for mothers that are breastfeeding. Responsible for Breastfeeding support group and telephone consultations. Provides follow-up support for mothers after dismissal. Respo nsible for discharge phone call follow-ups. Involvement in exclusive breastfeeding task force and community projects. Resource for Certified Lactation consultants on staff and training nursing staff.
