JOB SUMMARY

The Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner, is a skilled member of the allied health care team who is qualified both academically and clinically to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner works within a cooperative unit, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

In this role, you will provide hospital support and rounding, ordering tests, and conducts pre-op and post-op care.

The Neurosurgery PA/NP works collaboratively with a variety of health care personnel, including physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach to patient care. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited PA Program or Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body. Preferred/Optional: None EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: One year in neurological surgery, neurology, or surgical specialty. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: Active PA/NP license to practice in the practicing state of employment. Active PA/NP board certification. If NP - Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 3 months of hire. Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location). Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
