The Pool Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse - Pool DPC RN is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following proficiency and mastery of the core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership and service who delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing and promoting evidence based practice standards of quality, safety and service. Estimated pay range for this position is $45.00 / hour depending on shift as applicable.

Qualifications:


Degrees:

  • Associates.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
  • Registered Nurse.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Nursing or Bachelors degree in Nursing.
  • RNs hired prior to 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fishermen’s) are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN.
  • RNs hired after 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fishermen’s) with an Associate’s degree will have 5 years from their date of hire to complete the BSN degree.
  • RN must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
  • Required to work minimum shift including weekend and holiday requirements as outlined in nursing staffing policy.
  • As per department standard any of the following may be required (ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support, BLS- Basic Life Support, PALS- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP- Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ONS-Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card).
  • 18 months experience required.

Minimum Required Experience: 18 Months in NICU.

Communicates the patient's progress including critical findings, changes in the patients' condition with the physician and/or disciplines involved in the care of the child. Provides nursing care that includes IV site monitoring and troubleshooting, specimen collection, and assists medical team with special procedures. Follows physician’s orders and administers & reconstitutes medications directed. Adheres to the six rights of medication administration. Collaborates and rounds with a multi-disciplinary team in daily care planning rounds, as appropriate, and fosters a Family Centered Care environment. Accesses electronic health record independently according to hospital policy. Completes accurate and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic health record. Communicates with patients and families to review plan of care and solicits input and communicates any patient and family concerns to physician. Educates patients and their family about disease processes, post treatment home care such as disease, medication, treatments, pain, discharge, and safety. Promotes an "error free" working environment by consistently providing high-quality, safe care as per hospital policies, conducts prevention rounding, & follows up on identified concerns promptly. Assesses all body systems, ensures safe, effective & efficient care delivery with emphasis on the absence of medication errors, avoidance of falls, ouch-free procedural pain & reduction of pain. Provides patient information and effectively completes the hand off process at shift change and patient reassignments.
