Responsibilities:

  • Preparing snacks and meals to help sustain and satisfy the client throughout your scheduled time with them.

  • Encouraging light exercise (walks, bikes, swims, stretches) to keep the client active and physically moving.

  • Tidying up the house and helping with basic housekeeping tasks that keep the home environment neat and enjoyable for the client.

  • Transporting the client to nearby appointments or engagements. Take the clients to social activities, fairs, and events in the community or with family and friends.

  • Providing personal care assistance to ensure health and safety.  Including but not limited to bathing/shower assistance, incontinence/toileting assistance, Ostomy care, Catheter care, hands on mobility assistance.

Job Overview Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, with a variable schedule. This hospital provides a warm, inviting atmosphere and humble staff. Innovative technology, combined with the expertise of our specialists, nurses and staff, contribute to our innovative healing environment and personal, diligent health care delivery. We are committed to delivering outstanding health care in our growing community! Our 184 bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. About This Unit: This is a 33-bed Orthopedic and Medical Surgical unit comprised of Orthopedic Surgical patients that may have fractured hips or ankles. Cervical, thoracic and lumber spine surgical patients are also cared for on this unit. The Medical Surgical population includes respiratory patients with pneumonia, COPD, and Asthma. A range of Medical Surgical patients including appendectomies, gall bladder removal, blood clots and/or kidney stones also make up the patient population. A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as: vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, am bulates with patients, transfers, helps patient eat, showers and bathes patients, provides incontinence care, repositioning of patients, & helps with oral cares. Documentation of cares provided and r eports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN. Job Expectations: Demonstrates dedication to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the Fairview Nursing vision. Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care.
