Parkland Health Center Hospitalists are medical physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. They are located on the campus located in Farmington, MO.

Role Purpose

The Nurse Practitioner (Hospitalist) utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence to deliver inpatient care in a hospital setting. This position assesses, diagnoses, and initiates a patient care treatment plan within the scope of a formal physician collaborative practice agreement. In this position, patient care is performed with considerable independence, guided by physician-approved protocols, and evaluated through chart review, consultations, and the observation of results under the general medical direction of their collaborating Hospitalist physician.

 

Responsibilities

  • Participates in professional development
  • Manages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician.
  • Coordinates the care of patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals.
  • Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

What You’ll Do: Conduct thorough assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for a variety of urgent care conditions. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays, labs, and EKGs. Perform typical urgent care procedures, such as wound closures, I&Ds, and splint applications. Collaborate with a network of peers and specialists to enhance patient outcomes. Qualifications: Physician Assistant: Medical/Master’s degree with a valid state license and national certification. Nurse Practitioner: RN license, NP certification, and a valid state license. Requirements: Valid, unrestricted medical and DEA licenses. Ability to treat patients of all ages. DOT Certification: Must be obtained prior to your start date.
