Patient population includes: all age groups to include children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.   EDUCATION: Completion of a Medical Assistant program.   REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE): Must provide a transcript or diploma of completion of a medical assistant program.   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One to two years nursing experience in a physician’s office, preferably primary care.

DEFINITION: The Medical Assistant (MA) Care Coordinator is a clinical MA leadership position responsible for training and education of all physician and clinical support staff for a large multispecialty clinic group. Works as part of the Practice Management team on special projects such as Joint Commission readiness, clinical process improvement programs utilizing data to drive change and other special projects as assigned. Is also required to float to a specialty clinic to work as a staff nurse when needed. Is responsible for practicing within the MA scope of practice, managing any assigned personnel and promoting collaboration among the disciplines. Works independently requiring minimal supervision in order to succeed. Patient population includes: all age groups to include children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Additional duties may include oversight of joint commission readiness in various clinics through auditing and re-education and performing care coordination of referral services. REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Clinical Experience One to two years of physicians' office nursing experience. Familiarity with various software programs including but not limited to electronic health records, word, excel, powerpoint. Ability to speak in front of groups and teach in a classroom setting.
