We are looking for a Full-Time Medical Assistant II to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will function as a key member of the clinical team, providing vital support to ensure patient care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an ambulatory setting, familiarity with Epic EMR, or experience working in an allergy clinic, though these are a plus, not required. This position offers a consistent schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Position Summary:

  • Functions as a member of clinical team performing a supportive role in the delivery of patient care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
  • Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic specific requirements are available.
  • Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while determining and documenting chief complaint and reason for visit, vital signs, medication list,  allergies, smoking history and other information as required by clinic.  Keeps patients informed of delays and progress of clinical appointments.
  • As required and competency validated, performs appropriate hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning/reprocessing and other requested procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visit as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients. 
  • Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures.
  • Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for team and staff to include photocopying, scanning and faxing.
  • Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT) required or
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing required

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one (1) year of experience (in addition to the one year of experience required to meet the experience requirement) AND certification may be substituted for Medical Assistant training program.

Minimum Experience:

  • One year of related experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
