PURPOSE:
The Jewish Board’s Community Behavioral Health treatment programs provide compassionate, high quality, evidence-based services to individuals and families in the communities we serve. Our staff use a culturally affirming, person centered approach to help individuals and their families develop skills and resources to improve overall functioning, to instill hope, and to strengthen resiliency. Our programs work closely with community partners to address health disparities in our neighborhoods while also celebrating the strengths and resilience of our communities.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of client medical care, oversees all administrative functions in the program medical department. Supervises all RN in the department.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all aspects of the medical/nursing department(s) in the program.
- Implement and integrate medical protocols into the management of client medical diagnoses.
- Directly supervise nurses assigned to this role. Will meet weekly with each of these nurses and document each meeting. Complete weekly Dayforce for this staff, and annual evaluation.
- Administer medication to clients within scope of practice. Provide support to staff who oversee client’s medication administration procedures.
- Venipuncture for lab draws.
- Medical representative at interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Coordination of AMAP training with the director of medical quality.
- Assist in addressing the medical component of audits conducted by regulatory bodies and CARF standards as well as internal audits.
- May coordinate, prepare and distribute all routine administrative medical reports, as required by any licensing and / or regulatory bodies.
- Participate in client education programs on relevant health related issues.
- Provide staff with ongoing education and tools in order to ensure appropriate responses to medical concerns at all times.
- Assist in pharmacy reviews and medication security procedures.
- Collaborate with community hospital leadership and staff to promote collaboration and continuity of care across settings for clients during all phases of hospitalization.
- Work closely as a liaison with psychiatric and primary care prescribers.
- Participate in ongoing agency medical leadership meetings.
- Perform ongoing Electronic Health Record reviews to ensure both regulatory compliance as well as opportunities for Quality Improvement.
- Assure that any medical problems / issues are communicated to the Primary Care Practitioner and Administrator(s) as necessary, including a follow-up.
- Other tasks as indicated by leadership.
Team Process
- Participates in intakes, assessments, and discharge with medical follow-up.
- Participates in regular staff meetings and training.
- May be asked to travel to offsite meetings and training courses.
Documentation
- Follow up on incident reports as appropriate.
- Perform ongoing Electronic Health Record reviews to ensure both regulatory compliance as well as opportunities for Quality Improvement.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Minimum education level of a BSN or RN.
- Position may require specialized expertise in mental health, developmental disorders, crisis intervention, or other areas as deemed appropriate for the program’s needs.
- Should be familiar with standard reporting requirements as dictated by Office of Mental Health to whom the division is accountable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:
- Bilingual preferred, (Spanish)
- Some work experience with a similar population in an outpatient behavioral health setting
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to use Microsoft Office including Outlook and Word.
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software.
VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:
- The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform data entry into various computer programs.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to travel independently using public transportation and/or vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Ability to walk up and downstairs.
- Travel between programs.
