We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) who is a professional, who will provide patient care based upon the nursing process; being effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Our nurse will oversee and guide employees who are under their supervision. The Pre-Op PACU RN/LVN is under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide preoperative nursing care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development in accordance with facility policies.

  • Apply perioperative nursing skills and standards consistent with AORN and regulatory guidelines.

  • Ensure smooth and safe patient transitions between Pre-Op, OR, and PACU.

  • Use proper body mechanics to safely move and position patients and equipment.

  • Monitor and assess patients as anesthesia wears off; provide and explain post-op care instructions.

  • Support anesthesia providers during intubation/extubation and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.

  • Verify accuracy and consistency of H&P, physician orders, and consent forms before procedures.

  • Prepare and administer medications per current standards and the “7 rights” of medication administration; ensure compliance with all safety and documentation protocols.

  • Provide thorough handoff communication to the RN Circulator to maintain continuity of care.

Education / Experience Required: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and have a current Texas nursing license, either: RN or LVN
  • Two (2) years’ experience as an PreOp and/or PACU Nurse preferred
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification preferred or basic EKG or Arrhythmia identification certification.
  • IV skills preferred

HOURS:  8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
