Position Responsibilities:

• Adheres to and complies with all regulatory standards globally to profession and specific to unit
• Understands all new physician orders must be implemented within two hours of initiation for routine and within 30 minutes or less for stat
• Understands and is able to prepare patient for invasive and / or non-invasive medical procedures ensuring universal protocol compliance
• Understands and is able to administer medication per physicians' orders adhering to the hospital approved patient identifiers, following the 5 rights of patient medication administration
• Utilizes chain of command to communicate changes in patient condition and initiate timely interventions to prevent negative patient outcomes
• Maintains current licensure and annual competencies as specific to assignment, keeping written evidence on file at all times
• Understands the procedures to ensure continuity of patient profile/kardex and/or procedure preference cards or other unit specific tools, in a timely manner
• Assures continuity of patient care assessment and reassessment as per policy
• Ensures and understands the safety aspect of clinical alarms
• Follows the National Patient Safety goals as required 
• Follows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes
• Is available to participate as a member of either Team A or Team B of the Hurricane Activation Plan, as assigned
• Reports incidents to supervisor and Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy
• Follows the completion of incident reporting policy
• Complies with current Hospital security and safety polices
• Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family
• Assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to unit
• Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission
• Performs and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each shift
• Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention
• Assesses patient education needs on admission and daily
• Assesses psychosocial needs specific to patient's age, growth, and development

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited College of Nursing
• Current FL Nursing License

• Current BLS and ACLS Required
