Performs pre-employment physicals, medical evaluations and injury assessments as well as other related duties for the Employee Health Services Clinic in the Department of Human Resources; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Henrico County Human Resources is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical services in our employee health clinic. This role involves performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, utilizing specialized medical equipment, and delivering health education to County employees. The ideal candidate will have strong decision-making skills, the ability to operate in a fast-paced clinic setting, and proficiency in maintaining electronic medical records.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program acceptable to the Virginia Joint Board of Nursing and Medicine, which grants licensure for nurse practitioners; or a Master's degree from an accredited nursing program with a post-graduate nurse practitioner certificate; plus one (1) year of related experience, preferable in an Occupational Health Primary Healthcare or acute care setting; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
The expected hiring range for this role will be $100,053-$126,486 and commensurate with experience.
This is a full-time position and will require 40 hours a week. Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30p.m., Monday- Friday.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Must possess and maintain a current license as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Must maintain all required certifications and credentials. Active CPR certification is required.
Experience in occupational health setting preferred but equivalent experience will be considered.

- Perform physical exams, injury assessments, diagnose conditions, and prescribe appropriate treatment per protocol
- Utilize specialized onsite medical equipment such as EKG, audiometers, vision screeners, and spirometers.
- Provide basic life support in medical emergencies and assist individuals in distress until transfer to appropriate level of care.
- Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and community resources.
- Obtain and review medical and occupational history and other pertinent information to determine individual health qualifications for required work status.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and utilize office/computer equipment effectively.
- Communicate effectively with employees and staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Develop and deliver health-related training to County employees as needed.
