Spring Creek Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Staff Development In-Service Educator (RN) to join our leadership team. In this vital role, you will guide, train, and inspire our staff while ensuring that all educational programs meet the highest standards of care, compliance, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate all educational and on-the-job training programs.

  • Lead the creation of goals and objectives for in-service education, ensuring alignment with facility standards and regulatory guidelines.

  • Incorporate effective teaching tools, training aids, and instructional materials into engaging in-service programs.

  • Manage and maintain all educational records, reports, and instructional resources.

  • Direct new employee orientation, ensuring all staff understand facility policies, resident rights, and best practices.

  • Provide refresher training, continuing education, and competency assessments for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

  • Ensure all staff meet mandatory annual in-service training requirements (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, Infection Control, Abuse Prevention, Fire & Safety).

  • Support department directors in scheduling guest speakers and specialized training sessions.

  • Conduct audits, prepare reports, and participate in survey readiness.

  • Assist nursing leadership in interviewing CNA and LPN candidates, assessing skills and qualifications.

  • Observe staff performance, mentor new nurses, and ensure competency following training and buddy periods.

  • Stay current with professional standards, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.

  • Respond to emergencies as needed and provide support on the floor when necessary.

Requirements

  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).

  • IP Certification and IV Certification (required).

  • 2–3 years of experience as a Staff Educator in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Nursing Home.

  • Previous supervisory and in-service training experience.

  • Knowledge of State Regulations and survey readiness.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in SigmaCare, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly while attending to needs of patients, visitors and staff. Requires continuous communication with patients, staff and visitors of all educational levels. Requires frequent use of computers and other office equipment. Required to move objects up to fifty (50) pounds and must be able to move patients of all weights with a minimum assist of one (1) or assistive device/equipment per White Plains Hospital Safe Patient Handling Policy. Must be able to rapidly assess and respond to situational needs of patients, staff and visitors. Must be able to adapt to a high stress environment with frequent interruptions.
