The Quality Data Abstractor is responsible for the comprehensive review of medical records and the abstraction of clinical and quality data. Abstracts appropriate data following approved data dictionaries and standards. Documents and compiles findings utilizing computer based programs. Provides continuous evaluation of data collection for pertinence, accuracy, and compliance to standards. Participates in special studies as needed. Recommends and collaborates to maintain an efficient and effective process of collecting quality data. Intervenes as necessary to achieve quality indicators, including prompting a care provider to deliver or document care. Acts as a resource and mentors other health care providers in national quality indicators. Identifies trends in quality cases and communicates through chain of command. Experience in clinical cardiology settings desirable.
Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 5 - 7 years of job related experience

Preferred experience: Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of medical diagnoses, treatment modalities, therapeutic services, and intervention techniques. Experience in clinical cardiology, quality, utilization and/or case management preferred
Other experience requirements: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in acute hospital setting with demonstrated competence required
