Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide high-quality care and support to our client(s) in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals diagnosed with dementia and behavioral challenges, as well as proficiency using a Hoyer Lift and other mobility assistance equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers using a Hoyer Lift or other assistive devices safely and correctly.

  • Monitor and document changes in client condition or behavior, and report concerns promptly to supervisors or healthcare providers.

  • Support clients with dementia and behavioral issues, utilizing patience, redirection, and de-escalation techniques.

  • Prepare meals, assist with feeding as needed, and encourage fluid and food intake.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients.

  • Engage clients in activities that promote emotional and physical well-being.

  • Follow care plans and medication reminders as directed.

  • Communicate effectively with family members, supervisors, and other care team members.

Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license or equivalent caregiving experience (preferred).

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with dementia and/or behavioral issue clients.

  • Experience using a Hoyer Lift required.

  • Ability to handle challenging behaviors with patience and professionalism.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work every other weekend as scheduled.

  • Must pass background check and provide professional references.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32 Shift Times: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Summary of the Job: Certified Nursing Assistant who provides direct patient care in the home or homelike setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Service area includes West St. Tammany and Washington parishes. Mileage is reimbursed. Minimum Qualifications: Current certification validated from the LA Department of Health and Hospitals OR have successfully completed a Home Health Aide training program and a Home Health Aide Competency evaluation. Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Have the ability to read, write and carry out directions promptly and accurately. Exhibits a sympathetic attitude toward the patient, an ability to provide care to the sick, including terminal illness, and the maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. This position requires driving a hospital-owned vehicle and/or a personally owned vehicle to perform the essential job duties. In order to be considered, the candidate: • Must have a valid and current state issued driver’s license. Must have reliable transportation for work with current safety inspection (brake tag) and vehicle license plate registration. • Must maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance (at his/her own expense) in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence. • Clearance of driving record check; Driving records shall not contain any of the following: a suspended or revoked driver’s license, 3 or more moving violations in the past 36 months, 2 or more accidents in the past 36 months, 1 or more instances of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) within the past 24 months, at fault in a fatal accident within the past 5 years, leaving the scene of an accident within the past 36 months, and/or reckless driving within the past 12 months. Preferred Qualifications: Combination of acute Medical/Surgical experience preferred. Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health.
