JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Assists Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Nurses. Prepares examination rooms. Prepares patients for examinations. Processes charts. Assists Office Professionals with clerical duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes and records the following types of tasks in the Centerstone Health Services’ EMR:
    • Patient vital signs
    • Spirometry readings
    • Administers EKGs
    • Assists with office procedures
    • Administers injections and vaccines
    • Draws and processes blood and lab specimens
    • Renders basic first aid when necessary
    • Ensures that all data elements are captured in each patient visit
  • Assists physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses with examinations of patients; assist patients.
  • Supplies management (ordering and stocking of examination rooms/clinic area); sterilize instruments; clean examination rooms.
  • Prepares patient information and process related paperwork.
  • Follows guidelines and procedures set by both the Medical Director and the CHS Quality Assurance (QA) Team.
  • Responsible for direct patient communications regarding:
    • Lab results
    • Future appointments
    • Hospital admissions
    • Referral appointments
  • Able to answer patient questions or direct them to the proper resources whether in person or over the phone.
  • May be called upon to serve on committees, work groups or other bodies as assigned.
  • Performs clerical duties, including filing, as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Ability to assess and chart accurate information by using equipment listed below.
  • Ability to provide basic nursing care.
  • Knowledge of medical field, terminology, and nursing procedures.
  • Clerical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level in an accredited (MA) Medical Assist program. Graduate of accredited Nursing Assistant Program preferred.

Years of Experience

Completion of competency skills check list prior to performing tasks independently.
