Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Critical Care Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. 

 

  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)

 

Compensation: Base rate + shift differential

Incentives: up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

Job Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required with 5 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 5 months of hire

The ICU at CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 24 bed unit. We take care of any critical care patient and specialize in high acuity care. We strive to leverage technology and highly skilled nurses to allow our community and surrounding areas to receive health care close to home.

 

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

You will interact with other medical disciplines as needed & provide professional care to the patient. Job Summary and Responsibilities This position must work onsite at our Service Center in Omaha, NE. Join our innovative eICU team delivering advanced critical care virtually for seven hospitals in the Omaha metro area—with plans for future expansion. In this technology-driven role, you’ll leverage your clinical expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care remotely for critically ill patients, collaborating with bedside teams to ensure safety, quality, and excellent patient outcomes.
