LPN Licensed Practical Nurse - Family Medicine - Full Time

Position Summary:
Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license
Education, License & Cert:
LPN ‐ Must be licensed in the state of practice.
Experience:
One‐year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required
Essential Functions:
1. Directs patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam or treatment by identifying height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, and records same on chart. Will also interview patient to obtain history allergies, reconciles medication list and records on chart as requested.
2. Write or call Rx after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization for all department surgeons/providers as needed. Chart as written in patient’s chart
3. Email, fax or call in any insurance referrals. Follow up phone call with referral number to specialist if requested.
4. Assists in smooth departmental operation by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistant and MOA’s as requested. Answers telephone and performs other clerical functions as necessary (screen calls according to urgency and need). Must train and maintain proficiency in the use of computer equipment and other computer program training as requested. Must train and maintain proficiency in the use of computer equipment and other computer program training as requested
5. Attends to exam and procedure rooms, including assurance that proper supplies are on hand, maintain order and cleanliness. Order medications or clinical supplies for the department as requested.
6. Administers prescribed injections/medications and records them on patient’s chart
7. Routes patient after exam to proper area for ancillary testing or follow‐up appointments, i.e. Blood work, x‐rays, and enter lab testing as requested.
8. Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications, etc.)
9. Be able to read and review pathology results with patients
10. Setup and tear down sterile fields
11. Basic knowledge of surgical instruments
12. Prepare surgical trays as needed for procedures for the day.
13. Assist surgeon with operative procedures both in the office and Operating Room if necessary
14. Maintain infection control measures including but not limited to proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave
15. Proficient with autoclave sterilization process
16. Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal
17. Assess signs and symptoms of infection and reporting to surgeon and/or provider
18. Hepatitis checks and protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse
19. May perform high level disinfection, based on departmental equipment.
Other Duties:
1. As assigned as appropriate for LPN licensure
2. Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‐services, classes, training as required by the organization
3. Complies with the dress code policy as set forth by Guthrie
4. Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals

($7,500.00 for those with less than one year of experience) Summary The LPN Utilization Management (UM) Reviewer, in collaboration with Care Coordination, Guthrie Clinic offices, other physician offices, and the Robert Packer Hospital Business Office, is responsible for the coordination of Utilization Management (UM) processes and requirements of prior authorization/certification for reimbursement of patient care services. The responsibilities include: - Facilitating communication between physician offices, payers, Care Coordination and other hospital departments as appropriate to obtain prior authorization required to meet contractual reimbursement requirements and to assist in ensuring generation of clean claims in a timely manner - Securing authorization as appropriate - Documenting payer authorization - Facilitating issue resolution with payer sources in collaboration with other hospital departments or clinic offices as appropriate - Demonstrating ongoing competence in payer requirements, as defined collaboratively with Patient Business Services and Care Coordination Additionally, the position works closely with the Care Coordination department to support data collection and aggregation associated with UM processes and operations. Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) is searching for a compassionate & skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide exceptional care in our Telemetry unit at our beautiful hospital in Cortland, NY. The position is full time on day shift working three 12 hour shifts 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and every other weekend. We are a telemetry, medical/surgical floor that sees a variety of patients and diagnoses. We can accommodate up to 24 patients and can flex up to 30 depending on the hospital’s census.
