Job Summary

The Device Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for the overall organization of both in-office and remote pacemaker follow-ups. In office duties include patient scheduling, device interrogation, appropriate reprogramming, patient assessment, patient/family teaching, completion of clinical documentation, and billing. Remote device monitoring responsibilities include patient scheduling, review of downloaded patient device data at appropriate intervals, patient/family teaching, completion of clinical documentation, and billing. The Device Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for communicating all relevant changes in patient and device status to the supervising cardiologist/cardiology nurse practitioner in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Graduate of a professional accredited nursing school required.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience pacemaker/ICD device interrogation/reprogramming required.

Licensure and/or Certification

Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts.

Current BLS certification

HRS/NASPE certification preferred.

Skills

Competence in interrogation/reprogramming of Medtronic, Saint Jude Medical, Boston Scientific, and Biotronik pacemakers-ICD’s.

Strong patient assessment skills.

Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.

Excellent Computer Skills Required.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Schedule: 36 hours a week, Full-time day shift, Monday-Friday. On-call is required. The average amount of on-call is 4-5 shifts per month. Weekday hours will be either 5:30 pm-11 pm or 11pm-6 am and weekend and holidays are 7am-7 pm or 7 pm-7 am. You are paid an hourly on-call rate, and if called in, you will be paid time and a half.
